Practical guide
How to find a business in Québec using a specialized directory.
A useful directory helps you find a relevant starting point. Choosing a business then means matching your needs with the services it actually provides. Follow this approach whether you need help with your property or a platform for your business.
1. Describe the work before searching for a name
Write down the service you need, the municipality or area, access constraints and preferred timing. Separate a one-time task from an ongoing arrangement. A clear request helps a business tell you sooner whether it can help. It also lets you compare responses covering the same work.
2. Choose the trade in the directory
Search for a trade on the home page or use its filters. Open the platform profile to understand what it offers. A category is a starting point; it does not mean every business provides every service in that trade. A “Coming soon” status identifies an announced platform, not one already accepting requests.
3. Confirm the service area with the business
Continue to the specialized website and review the available contact information. If the platform offers a city or region search, use it to narrow your options. Then confirm your service address with the business: being listed in a Québec directory does not mean covering the entire province. A listing alone cannot establish availability or response time.
4. Compare what is actually included
Ask for a written description of the proposed services, exclusions and follow-up arrangements. For snow removal, describe the surfaces and access points involved. For meat processing, ask which preparation, processing or storage services are available. For chimney sweeping, describe the installation and check the services currently available on the chosen platform. Comparing amounts alone is not useful when the work differs.
5. Make the first contact useful
Have your municipality, a description of the job, preferred dates and questions ready. Ask who handles follow-up, how changes are communicated and where to find the offer’s terms. Avoid sending unnecessary personal details in an initial inquiry. AnnuaireQC helps you find a starting point; service discussions happen with the provider or its platform.
Planning a custom website or application
For a digital project, start with the problem to solve, the people who will use the product and their main tasks. Distinguish a presentation website, a browser application and software installed on Windows. List the devices, languages, offline requirements and systems to connect. Then ask what is included for hosting, backups, maintenance, access to your data and project handover. A concrete example of your working day is often more useful than a long feature list.
6. Keep your reference points offline
Once offline preparation is complete, saved directory pages remain available on your device. You can look up a specialty and reread this guide without a network connection. Availability checks, external websites and sending requests still require Internet access. Reconnect before making a decision based on information that may have changed.
Are you a business owner?
Choose your trade’s platform from the business page. Before registering, prepare a clear description, contact details and your actual service area. Compare features useful to your day-to-day work and review the offer’s terms on that website. A directory presence may make your business easier to discover, but cannot guarantee customer numbers or search rankings.
